The Meralian Accord was a multinational edict that officially outlawed the use of magic and made it punishable by death. This event set into motion the Great Purge and created a vast coalition of forces called the Great Army.
The Accord
As a result of the destruction caused by the 3rd Great War, a Meeting of Lords was called to the kingdom of Meralia, which ultimately decided to outlaw magic usage in a bid to protect the world from further destruction. This council agreement and later edict came to be known as the Meralian Accord.
A total of twenty-two nations signed the agreement; it should be noted that no representatives from any schools of magic were invited save those from the Eari, which had their flagship academy in Meralia and had established strong relations with King Avin 3 of the Merimot. This was so that none would interfere with the Eari's drastic solution. There were also no representatives from the merfolk race, as this was thought to be a matter that didn't involve them and they were typically left to their own domain of the sea.
This accord ultimately decreed that magic use was punishable by death, a decision that was highly controversial. Seven nations refused to sign the accord, which included all the kingdoms of the half-elves and the elves. Some nations were not present at the meeting.
