The Meeting of Lords is a traditional practice among the monarchies that have sovereignty over the realms. It is observed in all the remaining monarchies. Under rule of law, any member of a noble house may call the meeting in order to convene an official hearing so as to redress some grievance. The lords of each noble house, along with the king, act as a jury and arbitrators to hear and help the king deliberate the case.
A Meeting of Lords may also be convened amongst royalty, in which case kings or their proxies meet, but these are rare occasions due to the distance requirement. It is also customary for the initiating party to offer some sort of monetary compensation to incentivize participation.
Notable Meetings of Lords
- A High Alliance was formed when a Meeting of Lords was called in the kingdom of Meralia to formulate a plan moving forward to deal with destructive magic after a series of terrorist attacks by the Scions of Geth. This resulted in the Meralian Accord, which set the Great Purge into motion.
- Lord Jamond 2 of Turcott convened a Meeting of Lords to stake his rightful claim to the Thunoctian Mines, but was arrested during the meeting by King Pyloff of Brant and later executed for treason, which sparked the Aerylothian Civil War.
