Balt was a Cavaneer in the Averian army. He appeared in Snowleaf; his replacement, Hadden, never showed up for his shift, so instead of waiting, Balt ended up leaving his post unattended, whereupon he discovered that Hadden had fallen ill with the Curella virus. He, along with Groltein and another unnamed infantryman, are subsequently determined to be the only ones who came into contact with Hadden's body, so they are locked in the room as the building is set on fire in accordance with the Kandalus Protocol.
