Tallyman is a semi-retired professor who sometimes teaches philosophyship at Vasport Institute in Herensel. He plays mentor to Queen Caliana in Snowleaf (subchapter). He is almost always abrasive and teaches by debating with the Queen <ref>Janden Hale (2012) "Snowleaf"</ref>. This professor, being from Imindel, has a sort of kinship with the Queen, as they are both from Lothlan. When he is not teaching, he is traveling, and has a small cottage outside Highthrall.
He also frequently volunteers to chaperone final-year Arkaeni students on their sojourn to the Immortal City, which gives him a reason to visit his home in Imindel once a year <ref>Janden Hale (2019) "Arkaeni"</ref>. He meets every group in the ports as they layover in Shundra, and from there he accompanies them to Imindel, where he passes them off to another chaperone who takes them the rest of the way. Because he is a man of philosophy, he thinks the Arkaeni are foolish, pretend mystics who believe in fairytales.
