Several of the races died as a result, some were able to make an exodus. Even plantlife does not survive there. It is simply a bleak and desolate span of rock and earth.

Galwyndor is the official name of the world predominantly in the Everwind Series of books. It is broken down into two main continents, Greater Galwyndor and Lesser Galwyndor, and three oceans. During the time of the Everwind books, the remaining population only exists on Lesser Galwyndor, as the larger continent is uninhabitable.

Lesser Galwyndor

Lesser Galwyndor is the smaller continent, and the only one capable of sustaining life.

Only the most educated are aware of the existence of Greater Galwyndor (the barren parts) that lie far across the seas. What remains, sometimes referred to as “the Realm”, is made up of 14 nation-states:

Since to the people of the world it is the only place, most people simply call it "the mainland" and refer to the islands by their actual names.
