The Menovian Arch is an ancient historical landmark located in the city of Jura. It was originally build to honor the Queen Menovia, who was wife of King Jamond 3 of Turcott in the year 6,732. The structure still stands to this day, and is maintained by the House Turcott.
History
Just after the onset of the Aerylothian Civil War in 6,716, Jamond 3, then Daeken of Jura, led a series of assaults against the forces of House Brant, who for thousands of years had ruled over Aeryloth. Prior to the events that led to the war and eventual split of Aeryloth, Jamond was due to be married to the King's daughter, Menovia, but because of the Turcott rebellion, the King rescinded the arrangement. Jamond and the other Houses suffered heavy setbacks in the coming battles until Menovia, at great risk to her own safety, crossed the front lines with a small force of her own, which she raised after convincing two of her father's vassal lords to switch alliance to Turcott. This act was said to have tipped the tide in the Turcott's favor, and ultimately allowed them to win back most of the lost ground, though they never gained control over the Thunoctian Mines. After the Truce of Yord and the establishment of Lothlan, Jamond 3 was crowned first king and was wed to Menovia. As a gift, he had the Menovian Arch made in her honor, to symbolize her crossing.
