A Sceratus was a rank found in the Ildorian Ravenhelm paramilitary units, roughly equivalent to that of Captain. Each Ravenhelm unit had one Sceratus, who was commander of that unit. Second in command was the Calitus. The word was named after the first month of the year, Scera.
Promotion to Sceratus
Promotion to Sceratus, and thus command of a Helm Team, was only possible for those on the Star Helm, which was the top-tier team in the unit. So whenever a Sceratus spot became available, a member of Star Helm was promoted.
