Gethalyn was a Cauthrian warlock who commanded a massive host during the 1st Great War. Not much is remembered about the war (or Gethalyn, for that matter), aside from the legend of the Sword Tree of Gethalyn, which sprouted from the ground when Gethalyn was slain with his own sword by Aery II. (It was said that Gethalyn could not be slain by any blade, whether friend or foe). The etherwood tree which sprang from the ground (and swallowed Gethalyn and his sword) is a national treasure of Lothlan, and is a major symbol on the emblem of House Turcott. Gethalyn's nephew, Jylath of Milgrund, founded the Draol school of magic not long after the first Great War.
