The Age of Chaos was the longest age (5th Age), spanning almost 4000 years from the beginning of the 5th Great War (04887) until around (08550). It was called the Age of Chaos because the world had been thrust into a state of chaos brought about by famine, drought, climate change, etc. The struggle for survival thrust the world into a state of predominantly intellectual and technological darkness (it was much like the Dark Ages).
