Time in the Everwind Series differs from that on earth. One full rotation of Galwyndor is .9 times that of a single rotation of earth (one Galywndorian day equals 21.6 earth hours), and each Galwyndorian day is broken up into 33 hours, as is each month composed of 33 days. There are also only nine months in a year, for a total of 297 days a year. There are eight days in a week, with one extra day per calendar month.

Date Formats and Epochs

There are three primary epochs seen in the series. The oldest one is still in use today but a new, unofficial one arose following the Curella outbreak. The other one is used only in Overvale, an isolated village in the Atlica Mountains.

Erilorian epoch

The current population uses a common system that is based on the establishment of the Erilorian Empire, which is the Erilorian epoch. It was originally taught to humans by the Veninar after first contact, and a number of alternatives replaced it over the years. It was revived by Jogan 3 vig Jerinsen, head of the Arkaeni, and his brother, King Adion 4 vig Jerinsen, in EE 10,975.

Each year is written as "EE 11,298.7" or by its shorthand version "1298.7". When used without the EE it is recognized as being shorthand. The decimal point and the number after it, in this case the "7", denotes the month. So 1298.7 would be the month of Trunalus in the year 11,298. This can also be taken further so as to include the day: 1298.7.33 (33rd day of Trunalus in the year 11,298). The decimal system here works perfectly because there are only 9 months to a year.

Black Sam epoch

The Black Sam epoch is a new, unofficial way of timekeeping which involves tracking events based on the Curella virus outbreak. It is mostly used by ordinary citizens.

Because of the havoc wrought by the virus, many people starting referring to events in relation to the virus's first appearance in EE 11,322.2 (which is considered AS 0). This new epoch is referred to as "After Virus" and "Before Virus". It is an unofficial way of keeping time. It uses the abbreviation AV and BV. The months are done with the same decimal system.

Overvale epoch

The Overvale Epoch is a method of timekeeping only used in Overvale, and begins from the establishment of the colony in EE 4,646. Thus, if the year of the virus is EE 11,322.2, this system's equivalent is OY 6,676. The OY stands for "Overvale Year", although the citizens there call it "our year."
