A vormonger or battlefield mage, colloquially called a war whore, was a magic user who accompanied or loitered near battle sites to collect energy stirred up from the carnage. Some were a part of the battle. This was done to circumvent the Ygwer Code, which forbade killing for the purpose of harvesting magical energy. It was a group of Draol vormongers who led the Eari to create the Eari Stones, after a surprise attack on the Gruen citadel Eldstone, ultimately leading to the Great Purge.
