Omnifex

The omnicrux is what the Befores used as the term to describe the "pure essence of Grellis". It is a spiritual energy combined of all three cruxi, or essences of magical energy: oricrux from air, the "breath of Grellis"; and helicrux from water, or "tears of Grellis". Omnicrux was said to permeate everything created by the primordial stone god. It was imbued with all his creations. Of all the races, the Eldinar possessed this energy to the highest degree, being directly created by Grellis, although the Meninar also had it to a degree, being half-breeds. The rest of the races had it to a significantly less degree, as they were created by the celestial gods and not Grellis. It is said that all creatures who produce offspring pass some portion of their own omnicrux to the progeny.

Weakening the Non-Inar Races

Initially, the non-Inar races (humans, dwarfs, giants, merfolk, attawa, and jrel) possessed a lesser amount of omnicrux than the Inar, being that they were not created by Grellis. When the gods Drend, Orend, and Helirend sought to banish the angel M'ranin and the Fouled Seven to the Shadow Lay, they needed a significant amount of omnicrux to trap them there. Rather than take omnicrux from celestials, they stole some from each of the non-Inar races, as they found they could not do so from the Inar. This weakened the other races, but unwittingly saved them in the aftermath of the Great Purge, as they had less omnicrux than the Inar and the Cauthrians, who went extinct.
