A Moontreader was someone with the ability to access the Moon Lay. The Luinar elves were particularly adept at this, but the ability was not exclusive to the elves. Moontreaders used ghost rings to travel to, from, and within the lay. A Moontreader who stayed too long in the Moon Lay became trapped there, turning into a nightwraith. Such was the fate of the entire Luinar nation, who attempted to hide in the Moon Lay to escape the Great Purge. These also differ from the Luinar who flirted Wyeth accessing the Shadow Lay, some of whom became known as Da'luinar.
