A party pit is a deep cylindrical shaft, 25 rods deep and ten across, that is used for punishment and as a torture device by Emperor Vralius. There are three of them built into the courtyard at Victurus Palace. The method was devised by the Emperor himself.
Procedure
A victim is tossed into the pit where one of two fates awaits them:
- If the pit is empty or hasn't been used much, the victim dies from the fall.
- If a considerable number of bodies line the floor, the victim survives the fall but dies from starvation, thirst, or illness.
Trivia
- Devitt Camfry, an advisor to Vralius, was thrown into a party pit in Outrider, only to be fished out moments later when the emperor changed his mind.
