The korix is a carnivorous creature that resides deep within the Forbidden Caverns beneath the Atlica Mountains, which is the only passage to the isolated village of Overvale. It is ancient; the korix is immense with a number of large tentacles with toothed suckers. Since it is too large to leave its lair, it deploys tiny seeker orbs of light that lure its prey back to its lair.

Origins

The korix is originally a creature from the Shadow Lay; all of the creatures there were created by the Fouled Seven, angels were were banished to the Shadow Lay.

The korix was summoned by the Draol wizard Orilac from the Shadow Lay to protect the town of Overvale from intruders. It is also used as the primary method of population control (see The Transfer). This makes the korix around 8000 years old. Over time it grew to be too large to leave the caverns, so, with the help of Orilac, it developed the seeker orbs so that it could survive.

The twins Haley and Gerrodine frequently sneak into the caverns to harass the korix.
Only the twins call it the korix, a name they made up.
