Creation Myth (Inar)

According to the ancient Inar, creation is caused by the Vordragon Cycle, which is the cycle of life for the celestial being called a vordragon.

Vordragon Cycle

The cycle of a hatching and death of a vordragon is what creates and destroys worlds.

Hatching a Vordragon

The world of Galwyndor was created when the vorwyrm (an elder vordragon) known as Dekilia burrowed within the cosmic stone that housed the egg of the vordragon Gyva. In cracking the egg's shell, the new vordragon hatched, shattering the stone and the shell in a great burst of fire and smoke. This dispersed the stone pieces into the cosmos, creating worlds. Embers of the flame also spread, forming suns and stars. Pieces of the shell also rained down upon the newly created worlds, which were rich with gleam, or the energy that could create new life.

Cosmic Battle

The hatchling Gyva was rich in pure magical energy called vorsys, which the elder Dekilia sought to consume, as it had lost most of it in an earlier battle. The wyrm coiled around the hatchling and attacked it, trying to leech some of its energy for itself. A great cosmic battle ensued, with both creatures fiercely fighting to gain control of the vorsys energies. Energy expelled during the battle, fresh vorsys from Gyva and vordark from Dekilia, would mingle and give life to the five Divines.

Tears from the younger dragon fell to the earth to become the sea. Gyva's shrieks and the beating of her wings created the air. Gyva fought back, drawing the elder's blood. Dekilia's blood fell to the earth, some of it scorched from the flames the younger dragon belched forth. Gyva's blood also fell to comingle with the earth and air and sea.

While locked in battle, the elder began siphoning power. It first ate Gyva's eyes, which were richest in vorsys. Now having replenished some of its energy, the vorwyrm consumed the limbs and wings of the younger vordragon, which was now a blind vorwyrm. Dekilia released its grip, casting Gyva aside. In defeat, Gyva retreated to seek solace within a new cosmic stone that housed a fresh vordragon egg, where it would burrow to seek out new vorsys with which to restore itself as Dekilia had done.

Death of the Vorwyrm

Now restored with new vorsys energy, Dekilia would begin consuming the worlds and suns dispersed by the battle to regain all the vorsys lost. Once it had consumed everything, it would surround itself in a sheath of the collected stone, which would be its tomb where the wyrm would die. This death would in turn form a new egg that would gestate inside the stone until released by a new burrowing vorwyrm, which would begin the cycle anew.

Creation of the Divines

The Inar believed that some of the vorsys expelled during the battle was imbued with aspects of each creature, and being that it was thrown into the cosmos and was pure vorsys, these aspects formed into the deities known as the five Divines. Each god took on the two opposing aspects it was made from, one from each creature (ebb and surge).

• Anaama - Stability and Tranquility, Worry and Sadness
• Ewyr - Solitude and Humility, Charisma and Pride
• Thiessa - Kindness and Compassion, Suspicion and Deceit
• Galibrel - Curiosity and Creativity, Apathy and Greed

According to the Inar, every sentient being's personality is driven by the pull of the Divines in relation to where they were born, but unlike with something like astrology, one could never know the location of each Divine as they were always moving swiftly about. So, a person who was born in close proximity to Galibrel would be more inquisitive but might also be less responsible if they were far from the location of Joridel.

They also believed one could later change their nature by affixing their concentration on a specific Divine to achieve their blessing by gaining their favor over time.

Creation of the Races

The first race of being to come into existence were the Eldinar, who were sexless and immortal, springing forth from Gyva's blood, given life from the vor gleam that had been distributed throughout the earth.
