- "The success of the Stones, and therefore the sole chance of our world's preservation, relies upon the unique ability of a cryptic and ethereal creature from the Lay of Shadow to detect the scent of fex in all its forms. Abducted from the darkness and conveyed to the Lay of the Moon, the wraigh can now be employed to serve out a higher purpose within the rich tapestry of fate." - from Codex Antifexa
A wraigh is a rare creature from the Shadow Lay, sometimes called shade hounds.
Some of these creatures now reside within the Moon Lay, placed there by the Eari for use in killing magic users. These wraighs are used by the Tal Calar to hunt down magic because they are able to smell magic in the Material Lay. They are not flesh and blood, but shadow. They can be summoned to the material plane by the Tal Calar in order to be used in hunting magic. The plural form is wraighs.
Usage
Those creatures which are kept and maintained by the Tal Calar will alert their keeper of any scent of magic they detect in the Material Lay. From there they can lead the keeper to the location by way of opened portals, where the keeper can then leech magic using the Eari Stone. If the magic user employs magic, the Stone can soak it up; if the magic user attempts to subvert this by abstaining, the wraighs can attack and draw the magic that way. This is also by design of the Eari to prevent use of vorshards, which were believed to be able to destroy the stones.
