The Vanquished, also called the "1 of Reds" or the "Emp of Reds", is the first card in the Suit of Reds in a deck of Atlicana Cards. The cards are mostly used to play Atlicana. Being the suit of Reds, this card begins the transformation from being vanquished, where it can rise up and take up arms to defend others as The Sentry. From there it will progress to mastery and become The Heroine.
Features
"The Vanquished card symbolizes hope in times of adversity. First, there is the prominent broken shield, which is adorned with a single lightning bold. Sitting directly atop the shield is a naked man in defeat, overshadowed by a dead tree. Above the words Atlicana are several red stars, which signify that hope can sometimes be clouded by circumstance. Finally, there is a single nine-pointed star, nine being derived from the Sacred Number 33, meaning 3 times 3. This star is significant in that it symbolizes the hope which is greatest in times of austerity." - from The Usirad Grimoire
