Template:Infobox nobility A king is the male ruler by hereditary right of a nation that still uses a monarchical form of government. Most countries require a male to succeed to the High Seat; only two countries permit a female to act as Queen Regnant in the instance of a lack of male successors: Averia and Lothlan. The next in line to succeed is called the Crownprince or Crownprincess, or in cases where they are not the offspring of the former king, the Crowndaeken or equivalent.
Sometimes a male relative or person of high status may act as King Regent - a temporary kingship status - until the rightful king becomes of age enough to rule. Nurius 12 of Andergard acts as King Regent for his nephew, Stavin of Andergard.
