The Freeway of Sorrow is the main highway that runs from the port city of Derth to the isolated city of Broadlan. Because Broadlan relies almost exclusively on resupply from Derth, the road attracts frequent raiders. The road was heavily patrolled by the Wuer army during the reign of House Reddick prior to takeover by the Clavic Empire. As a result, the road is no longer patrolled, paving the way for its current reputation for violence.
The route also plays a major role in the training of Clavermark's Special Service Legion candidates, who must march the entire way. Since SSL selection takes place twice a year, it is almost a game for gangs like the Crimson to go there to pick off candidates during their march.
