The Time of Decay was a period of decline during the Age of Chaos where the lands of Greater Galwyndor became inhospitable to all life. Over a period of about a thousand years the lands suffered from famine and drought. Plantlife dwindled rapidly, followed by wildlife, which spread from east to west, pushing civilizations to migrate west until they eventually had to make a mass exodus across the sea to Lesser Galwyndor. It was mostly humans who sought refuge there; the giants remained in their homelands of Ranat, which ultimately led to their demise. Some dwarfs also migrated, while the rest sought refuge underground. What became of those dwarfs remains a mystery.
