The Falingrad Rule is a rule in New Arcanum that disallows any player from skipping a valid play in their hand for a higher-powered one. This is intended to prevent players from trying to end the game early; without this rule it would be possible for a person with a small deck of Atlicana Cards to beat a stronger one with far more cards, and thereby cheating a player who had worked hard to acquire the cards. The rule is named after the city Falingrad, where a player named Choro Linthrup won a tournament by constantly playing a hand of six Sages. His throat was cut by one of his opponents in the street outside the venue immediately after collecting the prize moneys, so the rule was inacted and agreed upon by the event coordinators. The rule became universally accepted by players everywhere.
