Vordark Crystals, also known as demon glass, are mysterious gems that naturally absorb vorsys, or magical energy. This is because they are the scorched blood of a vorwyrm, which is basically vordark (lacking vorsys); the Eari call this antifex. They are very dangerous to magic users, as mishandling them is fatal to magic users. Expending any magical energy within a certain radius can cause the crystal to leech all of it, killing the user. When left alone, these crystals will soak up ambient magical energy over a long period of time. The Eari used demon glass to create the Eari Stones, which the Tal Calar wielded during the Great Purge; all the Eari died as a result and were hailed as heroes. According to ancient legend, vorshards were the only things that could destroy these crystals.
Location
These artifacts are typically found in the most barren locales. This is because the crystals are said to become imbued with the properties of the things substance it came to rest upon when falling to the world. So those landing in water would attract water as well as magic. Likewise for land, air, and plants. These crystals, then, would attract more of that substance over time, causing the surrounding area to become more extreme. This is why the Verges are so windy, why there is more rainfall in Vir, and why Goldenmark is such an extreme desert climate.
Creation
They were created when the vordragon Gyva drew the blood of the vorwyrm Dekilia and scorched it with fire. These crystals rained down upon the earth.
