The dwarves, were a race of humanoid beings who existed in the time of the Befores. They originated in the mountainous region that would later become Torminal.
The dwarves were initially one peoples, but like the elves, splintered into different groups as they expanded to explore new areas. Mostly this was caused by an invasion of humans known as the Ganennites. One main group moved east to form the kingdom of Maldenon, while another migrated west to form Krenvia.
Dwarves were typically smaller and thicker in stature than their human counterparts, with coarse hair and fingernails. Unlike elves, who do not have the ability to grow facial hair, dwarfen culture demands that they grow beards.
Creation of the Dwarves
After turmoil took root amongst the gods, Drend and his two brothers became jealous of the Eldinar that Grellis had created, as well as the palanem, which were made by the Eldinar. The brothers decided to each create a race of their own, and Drend first made the trolls. The other brother-gods made the krakari, ogres, and goblins. These initial attempts were considered substandard, so Drend made the dwarves from the trolls to be more stalwart than the Eldinar.
