The Patriarch is the highest ranking member of a religious extremist group called the Lightsprawl. His identity is unknown, and it is unclear whether he created the Lightsprawl Order or not. He first appears in the short story Smallerhouse. The Patriarch is considered to be the prophet of the Lightsire, the Lightsprawl's deity, and he often communicates to subjects, such as Sigilus the Overseer, through letters. The Patriarch signs all his letters as "E.A. Tashton".
