It is considered a serious offence; the universally accepted punishment for emblem fraud is left up to the offended faction. It is first mentioned in Outrider, when Venicus Mor is caught wearing the jacket of the late Edulon Dane (which had the Outrider emblem on it) where he is placed into the custody of stationmaster Boren Addlegard for punishment.
