The Thronehelm were an elite unit of Ildorian guards tasked with protecting the House Doria. Each royal member of the house was assigned a member of Thronehelm from birth. The Thronehelm member would then be the personal guard until death. Should their charge perish unnaturally while on their watch, the Thronehelm member would commit themselves to public suicide, which was considered honorable. Their motto was "Vigilance til death."

Until just before the Ildorian Revolution there had never been any acts of known treachery among the Thronehelm. The Thronehelm was disbanded and every member burned at the stake following the Revolution.
