Mentions |
The I'dunal were a sect of magic users in the time of the Befores. Unlike the generalist schools of the Eari and the Draol, the I'dinar were specialists in perciperation, anteperciperation (though rare), and illusion. They were also a neutral school of magic, and had a reputation for being consummate historians. Because of this, they were often employed by other schools, governments, and universities to assist in documenting events and other things.
Positions
The highest level one could attain within the I'dunal was that of High Archwitness, who basically was in charge of the entire school of discipline. Beneath that were the Archwitnesses which were those who basically oversaw others, such as witnesses or initiates. As such, they could guide others during investigations. Those who were sent as emissaries (as courts and even the other magic schools would employ them for the expertise) were always Archwitnesses.
Any who had completed training, who could witness without supervision, was promoted to I'dunal Witness. These mostly acted as scribes for historical and judicial purposes. Prior to this, any who were in training were known as initiates.
